Our immunity

This is Winter.

If you are reading this, you arrived here because you're dancing with your body. That knowing — what yoga calls potency — is asking you to care for the reservoir of your power.

Our intimate conversation continues. The involution threads us to our blueprint, in a body armed with all that is needed to thrive and remain resilient.

In all the guidance, gifts and development I have received, the human intelligence of our own engineering and science has, in my experience, not been praised enough.

Welcome to Chakra Club.

Winter asks something of all of us. The world asks it as “How do I boost my immunity?” In Chakra Club the question is: how do I protect my Ojas, keep my Agni bright and steady my Bala… breath to breath, moment to moment?

This is not an Ayurveda course, but the two ancient practices call on each other. Ayurveda is the science of healing the body. Yoga is the science of liberating the mind. This is a passage into the chakras, practised through yoga, in the dark of the year. We weave three of the oldest gifts we have as lenses, and at each centre we ask:

Ojas
To nourish

What nourishes and protects me here?

Agni
To digest

What am I ready to digest, or burn through?

Rudra, our inner fire

Bala
To steady

What holds me steady when the ground moves?

Our immunity is a direct signal of our resilience. Yes, that means resistance to the competing forces — but also the vitality to move through them in our body.

Here we gather the story of a resilience that has potency in resistance — not giving up, not leaving ourselves behind. This is strength that is not about being strong. We release protocol. We cultivate it on the mat, in the cave, through asana, personal expression, breath, mantra and stillness.

“I believe that we are in a culture and nature now that longs for this threshold journey inside ourselves. We have new possibilities to create valuable systems out here and within us.”

You arrived here if…
  • your practice is steady but the world is not
  • you feel the season moving through your bones and want to meet it skilfully
  • you hold space for others and need to be resourced yourself
  • you are tired of what wellness has been made into, and want the deeper teachings

This is subtle-body work. We begin from the beginning. This gathering is a journey from the heart to the heart.

Moving chakra by chakra, we tend the essence, the fire and the strength together, through practice, ritual, meditation and conversation.

My promise

Not a colour chart and a list of symptoms

Our sitting together this winter with the chakra system will not be decontextualised diagnostics, quietly asking you to fix yourself, Mother Earth or the fractures we experience.

Information doesn't balance a chakra, nor does a decade of self-help books and training. They offer knowledge — but what moves a sacred field into living, whatever the conditions, is just you. Staying in the body, creating positive friction, transforming the forces that compete into allies.

There is no spiritual ladder here. The centres are not an accomplishment; each one is just a doorway further in, practising skilful living alongside your body and mind. Nobody in the circle is further along or behind.

Our way · three agreements every week

Ground. Rise. Move.

Ground

The breath, the body and the imagination — where the chakra can deepen the recognition of the cave in your heart.

Rise

The archetype and the flower give rise to insight, how to move skilfully, physically, integrating the energy field specific to that part of the body.

Move

Nothing stays theoretical. You walk it, speak it in a small group, create a practice through the week, and share your feedback in the community until we meet again.

The power of feedback

We all need feedback

I remember being struck by a colleague I didn't know all too well. She really wanted to give me feedback. I was ten years into teaching my classes when I encountered this moment.

She was very joyful and bouncy. I am not a bouncy person.

I was taken by her directness confronting me and my work. I take pride in what I do. I am a little bit too serious sometimes, but I love what this practice has left in me. I felt I had nothing to lose by listening. So she pointed out that my request to the students in class sounded as if I was asking them to do it for me, instead of for themselves. I must be honest, I was annoyed: it wasn't comfortable hearing this. But I am a student of my own work, so I had to stand in front of this moment, and be open to listen.

I reflected on this and had to agree. One simple word could change the entire structure of the input and output — how my students receive the insight and good intention I hold.

We all need feedback.

That's why we stand in front of a mirror: there is a layer and level of feedback occurring in that moment.

These nine weeks are your own system, wanting to give you feedback.

If you are willing to stand in front of that mirror through and allow the chakra system to give you feedback, you can be a student to your body, deepen curiosity, and refine the way you are living your life through your own direct experience.

Direct experience

Kind Words

“This is a space where support, guidance, wisdom, love and lightness occur. Lizi is an unforgettable force. A beautiful, magical, extra-special being.

Wherever you are in your life and practice, even if it's not yoga, she meets you there and then gently assists in steering you towards your power.

I could never properly express my thanks for the insight she helped me unpack during the group gatherings I have attended with her, and the 1:1 sessions together.”

The nine weeks

The garland of the chakras

Each week we move through our landscape — intentionally, attentively and listening to sensation.

A chakra is not an organ; it is a flowering. Each chakra has a root along the spine and a flower opening outward to the front of your body, the flowering happens in the subtle body — where desire, emotion and our belief actually live. Each centre turning in its own frequency, with its own sound. This is how the old texts teach us, a sacred garland in our spine. So we do not climb the chakras to enlightenment, we hold them, visit them, and deepen our understanding within each flower.

Every week is an experience of your personal practice where you are now. This blueprint honours you arriving with no judgement, no expectation, no result. This is about restoring, rebounding into rejuvenating.

How this is taught

Three things I will not do

Threshold journeys, no level

No ladder. Nobody is ticking boxes.

Practice tethers, no random diagnosis

The information and the maps we work with are a lens, never a verdict. This is not therapy and does not replace it.

Written wisdom, no doctrine

Nothing here asks you to conform or agree. Everything asks you to be curious, listen and learn from conditions and your own patterns and behaviour.

Who this is for

I created this for you

  • You have been circling this chakra material for years and want to sit with a new perspective.
  • Your working life feels as if you are in a living hell.
  • Your relationship with self-care bores the life out of you, and that reflects your other relationships.
  • You are new to yoga philosophy and technology and want insight and tools to develop mental fitness.
  • You are a past retreat student who wants a fire this winter — a personal retreat at home, with the community across the globe.
  • You believe in the infinite potential of life, and you refuse to give up.
  • You love to write, draw, paint and use movement to think and feel.
And who it isn't for
  • Anyone wanting a diagnosis of which chakra is “blocked”.
  • Anyone looking for physical or psychological quick fixes.

The notebook is half the course. Your body is the other.

“There is no smoke and mirrors with the lessons she teaches. She's been there, she's trusted the process, and can prove that the clarity comes from doing the deep work.”

Your teacher

Lizaan Joubert

Thirteen years obsessed with creating momentum in a career I love with every vein that runs through me. The practice that exists beyond yoga asana has been my mission, as I would hope it is every yogi's mission. Chaos and conditions colliding with devotion, talent and a natural leadership is what you get to witness — and an unshakable desire for joy, peace and love to permeate you, me and our collective community called humanity.

Six of those years were spent teaching in London, before I took myself on the road to create a path for my own method and way of life. Fifty-plus retreats later, my work is still the same one: undoing suffering, allowing a spaciousness for joy and ease to move in — for you, for me, for all that is near us. I am a student, and spiritual activist. I am the founder of PAWO Yoga Retreats, and this cohort is the archive of my three decades of learnings and experiences I have found. They have provided a capacity and deeper understanding.
